A father and his son attacked the latter’s friend with sharp instruments in front of a teacher and students in a classroom at Abd Al-Malik bin Marwan Secondary School in Yadmet on Tuesday.

Hussain bin Ali Mu’amar, assistant director of Education, said the father and son attacked Hamad Mesfer Al-Fateh, a 17-year-old student, as he sat in class. The class teacher, Hamid Al-Amri, was present in the class, as were other students.

This did not deter the two from attacking Al-Fateh. Both of them fled the after stabbing the boy.

The statement said that Nasser Al-Munie, director of Education in the region, headed immediately to the school under directions from Muhammad Al-Rasheed, director of the Education Office.

They wrote a report on the incident and notified authorities with the cooperation of the supervising coordinator of the school.

The student was shifted to a hospital and is in stable condition, hospital staff said.

Al-Munie telephoned the injured student to check on his health and conveyed best wishes from the Minister of Education, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah, and Governor of Najran, Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah, for his speedy recovery.
