A 70-year-old Filipino is the oldest person to vote here since polling stations opened on April 13.

Reynaldo Corpuz Donato arrived at the polling area at the Philippine Embassy and was assisted by election officials. Donato has poor eyesight and requested assistance.

Asked why he voted, Donato said: “My right to vote is important to me.”

Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago said: “I salute Mr. Donato for exercising his right to vote. He should serve as a good example for all Filipinos in Saudi Arabia.”

The envoy renewed his call for all Filipinos in the Kingdom to exercise their right to vote in the general election. “Let us avoid the huge crowds that traditionally come out during the last days of elections,” he said.

He invited registered Filipinos to cast their votes at the following venues: For Riyadh and the Central Region at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Saturdays to Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays to Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and May 13 (last day of voting), 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For the Eastern Region at the Al-Jazeera International School in Dammam, Saturdays to Wednesdays, 12 noon to 8 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and May 13, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For Jeddah and the Western Region at the Philippine Consulate General, Al-Rehab District, from May 2 to May 10, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; May 11 and May 12, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and May 13, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
