Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the Kingdom have expressed optimism regarding the meeting scheduled to be held in Manila between the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) representative and top Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) officials.

“We’re optimistic that the meeting will be mutually beneficial for both the SCE and Filipino engineers in the Kingdom,” said Resty S. Sibug, former president of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers and adviser of the Philippine Professionals Organization (PPO).

The SCE representatives, headed by Secretary General Ghazi Al-Abbasi, left for Manila on Monday and will come back on Sunday. They are slated to sign agreements related to Filipino engineers and architects.

These agreements include the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) and Qualifications Framework of Filipino Engineers and Architects with the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) headed by Chairperson Teresita R. Manzala.

“As a result of the meeting, Filipino engineers will be imbued with confidence regarding their expertise in the workplace,” Eric P. Asi, a senior engineer at Nardeen Lighting, told Arab News.
