A three-member delegation from the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) will arrive in the Kingdom Thursday to conduct a three-day examination among Filipino professionals in the Kingdom, according to Labor Attache Alex Padaen of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Jeddah (POLO-Jeddah).

“The examination will be held simultaneously in Jeddah and Riyadh. The Filipino professionals in the Eastern Region will travel to Riyadh to take the examination,” Padaen told Arab News.

Padaen said that the PRC will administer the examination on Oct. 15, 16 and 17. A preliminary meeting between the PRC delegation and the examinees will be held on Monday.

He added that a total of 187 Filipino professionals will take the examination in Jeddah. Nine certified public accountants will sit the exam, 34 civil engineers, 31 nurses, 21 electrical engineers, 22 registered electricians, 31 mechanical engineers and 39 architects.

A total of more than 200 passed the examinations in 2007, 2009 and 2011. The holding of the examination falls in accordance with Executive Order 835 as mandated by the Philippine government.

Yusoph P. Admain, a community leader and past president of the Philippine Professionals Organization (PPO) in Jeddah, said that the examination has been coordinated by the PPO with the PRC.

The PPO in Jeddah is an umbrella organization of seven different groups that include the Integrated Institute of Electrical Engineers (IIEE), the Philippine Society of Mechnical Engineers (PSME), the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) and Institute of Overseas Filipino Architects.

“It's good that the PRC sends a delegation to hold the examination in the Kingdom instead of the Filipino professionals having to go home to take it,” Admain said.

He added that POLO-Jeddah and POLO-Riyadh are co-hosts of the examination this year.
