RIYADH: The Ministry of Justice has launched an electronic fingerprint system to monitor the arrival and departure in the office of all the employees of the judiciary sector, according to an online newspaper.

Justice Minister Dr. Walid bin Mohammad Al-Samaani said that the new system will be implemented from the month of Dul Qaada. In the first phase it would be implemented in the office of the minister for its employees. It will gradually be introduced for all the employees of the judiciary sector.

Khalid Al-Tujairi, director general of the follow up department, said that the ministry intended to implement this system to bring discipline in monitoring the attendance of employees to ensure best of services to citizens. He said that the fingerprint system has been linked with the employees affairs system and system of leaves.

Majid Al-Othman, director general of the information technology, said that the minister of justice himself has shown special emphasis on the need of the fingerprint system. The data collected by the fingerprint machines would help taking swift decisions and making administrative work more easy and accurate.

In mid-July, the justice minister visited courts in Makkah and was surprised when he could not find judges and other employees in the courts during office hours, as was reported then by an online newspaper.
