Five brothers were recently arrested for the theft of some SR5 million from an armored car transporting money in Riyadh’s southern Aziziah district, local media said quoting sources at the Department of Criminal Investigation in Riyadh.

The brothers were reportedly living in a rented house in the northern part of the capital, sources told Sabq newswire.

The five siblings were found in the house following a raid together with firearms (machine guns and pistols), including the weapon used in the robbery. However, they were arrested before they could offer any resistance, sources said.

Investigators found a cash haul estimated at one million riyals which was part of the stolen money, while some 5 million riyals had been spent on purchasing cars, devices and other commodities, sources said.

The five brothers are being held at the Department of Criminal Investigation in preparation for their referral to other bodies for further legal procedures, the sources added.
