Five female teachers were among seven people injured in a road accident on Thursday morning in the Balhamr region of Asir.

Ahmed Ibrahim Asiri, spokesman of the Saudi Red Crescent in Asir, said officials received an alert at 6:33 a.m. about the accident involving a microbus transporting teachers to Abel Educational Complex in Balhamr.

Three ambulances went to the scene and took the injured to Asir Central Hospital, he said.

Saeed Al-Nokir, spokesman of the health department, said that the injured, who included the driver and a child, are in stable condition at Asir Central Hospital. One teacher suffered a broken leg and another a neck injury. Three other teachers had less severe injuries. The driver also suffered a moderate injury. The child is in good condition, he said.

Mohammed bin Abdul Khaliq Aredan, assistant director-general of education in Asir, ordered several women education officials to visit the teachers to help them and inform their relatives.

The injured teachers were identified as Wafa Salem Al-Kas, Moghaidh Dbassan, Aisha Yahya Muafa, Halima Ali Al-Ahmary, and Fatima Nasser Melhem.
