A local charity and supermarket chain distributed food coupons to several widows, families of prisoners and orphans during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Azizia Panda United Company and the International Islamic Relief Organization Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) organized the campaign. The coupons allowed the people to buy food of their choice.
A executive financial accountant of Azizia Panda United Company said the coupons, worth SR300 each, “benefited thousands of needy children and families.” Ehsaan Saleh Taieb, acting secretary general of IIROSA, said: “The campaign has been carried out by the women’s section of IIROSA’s community welfare department, to help poor families break their fast in a happy manner and celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.”
He said the campaigners also gave some coupons to some associations and hospitals for those poor and needy families registered with them. The program would possibly be expanded to cover one million people in future, he said. One hundred coupons were distributed to the Saudi Charity Association for Aids Patients and Al-Faisaliah Women’s Charitable Society, 50 to the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Committee for the Care of Prisoners and their Families, Nujood Center for the Elderly, Community Friends Association, and the Himaya Association.
King Abdul Aziz Hospital, Community Friends Association and Sulaimania Health Center also received 50 coupons. There were also 100 coupons given to the Women and Children’s Hospital. Some coupons were distributed to families registered with IIROSA.
