Sources at the Ministry of Housing have said that the ministry does not intend to establish programs that targets single people, renewing its pledge to target Saudi families in addition to special cases such as widows and divorcees who meet the requirements of the ministry's programs.

The sources said the ministry's focus will be on programs and plans for families, adding that single people, whether male or female, cannot necessarily apply for housing support programs at this time. These include loans, a housing units or land and a loan in a combined package.

The sources said that the ministry’s strategy aims to achieve stability in the housing market to suite different sectors of society, and to offer services to single people indirectly. Indeed, all of the ministry’s programs are linked to providing suitable housing for Saudi families and it does not have any programs related to single men alone at this time.

The ministry noted that this is because the family has priority in Saudi Arabia due to it being the basis of society, and the ministry's programs offer only indirect services for single people, because this method contributes to returning property prices to their normal state, and facilitates families in getting a house for themselves. Further, it should be noted that single people usually live within a family, which means families can apply to the Ministry of Housing for help if they do not own suitable accommodation, and all members of the community can benefit from this product.

The sources confirmed that applications for assistance made to both the Ministry of Housing and the property development fund have been unified, with the exception of those who applied earlier to the Property Development Fund and who are still waiting for their names to be announced. In the past, the fund did not consider the social status of the applicant and single people could apply to get a property loan.

Meanwhile, the Housing Ministry is preparing to distribute 2,000 pieces of developed land as part of the Riyadh housing project located to the west of King Khaled International Airport, in addition to the distribution of 149 housing units in Khaibar housing project. It announced that work is under way on the Nawan housing project in Al-Mikhwat in Al-Baha province, too, which includes 115 housing units.
