JEDDAH: Mohammed Al-Saeed, public notary and former head of the Haia in the Tanouma Province, has revealed details about being subject to attempted assassination recently while leaving a local supermarket.

He said he was he was the victim of a clear attempt to run him over, and was transferred to hospital after the incident.

It was later revealed that the perpetrator was a security officer in the area who was arrested around a year and half ago on charges of public misbehavior, and was trying to get personal revenge for the incident.

Al-Saeed said this is not his first exposure to attempted assassination, as he was the victim of another attempt some months ago while driving, but a local checkpoint at that time prevented the perpetrator from attacking him.

He attributed the assassination attempt to a great imbalance and flaw within the police department to which the perpetrator belongs, confirming no necessary legal action was taken in the case against him a year and a half ago.

Rather, he became aggressive and sought to retaliate.

Al-Saeed confirmed that he is currently in good health, and what he experienced was a result of weak punishment of the offender at the time, noting that the case now is in the hands of police authorities and the offender was arrested.
