The Ministry of Interior will conduct its second free DNA test for undocumented mothers with children from Aug. 17 to 21, according to the Philippine Embassy.

“The DNA test will be the final opportunity extended by the Saudi government to facilitate the repatriation of undocumented women with children,” Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago told Arab News.

Only those who had reported to the Philippine Embassy or contacted Yusoph Khalil by Aug. 13 will be accommodated for the free DNA test.

Saudi officials also announced that only residents who have undergone pre-processing by the embassy and are included in a list to be submitted to the Ministry of Interior’s special committee will be allowed to undergo free DNA testing.

The Interior Ministry also requested that it be furnished the final list of mothers with children and who have undergone pre-processing by Thursday.

The exact number of women with children who would undergo the DNA test was not available.

“The embassy is coordinating with the ministry regarding the DNA test since this is not a simple or normal procedure,” Ambassador Tago said.

The embassy had earlier released a list of 122 names of women with children cases, but admitted that its efforts have continued to be unsuccessful.

Ambassador Tago said that the embassy had previously issued advisories calling on those who enlisted to contact the embassy.

The service will cost SR1,000 thereafter if cases for repatriation appear in the future, said the Filipino envoy.
