RIYADH: Residents of Rafha, in the Northern Borders Region, have complained about the frequent power outages in the region. They have asked Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah to solve the problem which has affected them psychologically.
Rafha, which is about 643 kilometers north of Riyadh, has a population of about 80,550.
“The frequent power outages interrupt us in our fasting,” the residents said. “Our children are also effected by the distruption.”
They attributed this to the electric company in Rafha, which they claimed to have not rendered the services they had been expecting, particularly during Ramadan.
“The problem would have been solved if the electric company would have dealt with it seriously,” they said.
The residents said they will seek an investigation into the matter to find out who is responsible for the problem they are experiencing long before the start of Ramadan.
“The company has many plants, but these have not been translated into good service at a time when they’re needed most,” they said.
They said whoever is responsible regarding the problem should be held accountable and penalized. “The officials of the company have been giving us flimsy explanations. Assuming that the explanations are reasonable, what is unreasonable is our prolonged agony because of the inefficient service that the electric company has been rendering to us,” they said.
