Makkah Police has arrested a gang of three including two Asian men and an Arab woman for a series of thefts in the holy city.

“Following an increasing number of complaints, the Makkah Police Chief Maj. Assaf Al-Qureshi formed a team to launch an intensive search for the culprits,” Col. Atih Al-Qureshi of Makkah Region Police said on Tuesday.

He said that the police had received several complaints in the last two months about unknown persons involved in the attacking and looting of people.

Al-Qureshi said that “The police have arrested two Asian men and an Arab woman, all in their 20s. We recovered SR200,000 in cash besides stolen gold jewelry, expensive electronic devices and smart phones,” adding that the accused were referred to the Bureau of Prosecution and Investigation for further proceedings.
