JAZAN: Authorities in Al-Ardha in east Jazan closed down a gas station on suspicion its workers were mixing water or other liquid with petrol, according to a website.

A sample was taken from the gas station to confirm if petrol was being adulterated after the authorities received a complaint.

A Saudi citizen has found that the color of 95 premium quality petrol has changed while he was filling his vehicle at the Al-Ardha gas station. He compared the color with the petrol at other gas stations and found it different. He suspected that water was being mixed with petrol. The matter was investigated after the authorities received complaint and closed down the gas station.

The sample of petrol taken from the gas station has been sent to a government laboratory to find out the reason behind the changing color of petrol.

If it is found that the gas station has been adulterating petrol, the owner and the workers would be punished as per the law.
