JEDDAH: The Council of Ministers praised the leaders of the GCC countries Monday for initiatives to unify the six-nation bloc on the political, economic, social and defense fronts.
At a meeting chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Monday afternoon, the Cabinet issued the statement to mark the 35th anniversary of the GCC, said Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Toraifi, according to SPA. The Cabinet “appreciated the significant role being played by the GCC in achieving security and stability in the region ... and prosperity.”
There have been several major projects launched under the guidance of the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain, the report stated.
The Cabinet expressed its deepest condolences to Egypt’s people over the deaths of many citizens in the EgyptAir plane crash last week, the minister was quoted as saying.
