More than 50 Saudi students took part last week in the second Employment Forum at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Frankfurt, an event organized by German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (AHK) and Saudi Consulate to help Saudi students find employment in German companies located in the Kingdom.

The Cultural Department of the Saudi Embassy in Berlin also helped organize this year’s forum, which kicked off last year for the first time.

“We have set up this first internship program for Saudi students in Germany to help them identify job opportunities in German companies in KSA,” said Andreas Hergenroether, the delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen.

According to Hergenroether, German companies in the Kingdom are very committed to the Saudization policy and would like to play an active role in the current process. For this reason, they are keen to participate in the program offering internships and jobs to Saudi Students.

To prove his words, Hergenroether pointed out that most of the students at the forum were offered an internship or a job opportunity at a German company in Saudi Arabia in various fields, including electrical and chemical engineering as well as finance, IT and business administration.

The students came from all over Germany to Frankfurt to participate in the event and learn about the prospects German companies offer their employees. Three of Germany’s largest investors in KSA took part in the job fair — Detecon represented by its CEO Dirk Doerrschuck, Thyssen Krupp, represented by its Director Human Resources & Administration Joachim Kell and Siemens, represented by the Head of Talent acquisition Mohamed Awad.

Hergenroether took the opportunity to promote the online tool JobXchange, available on the AHK website. JobXchange is Germany’s main online site for international recruiters and job seekers, linking Germany’s professionals to the rest of the world, and vice versa.
