A female university student has reported her father to the police for traumatizing her two younger brothers, forcing them to spend the night outside their house until midnight.

According to a report in a local daily, the two children had to take shelter at a mosque in the neighborhood.

The student said she had to report her father out of fear for her brothers’ lives, especially since her parents are separated. She alleged that her father regularly beats up the children, 10 and 12 years old, and throws them out of the house. They are then forced to spend the night at a mosque in the vicinity.

"My father always treated us badly and locked us up at home when we were children. Now he is doing the same to my younger siblings. That's why I reported him to the police," she said.

"I was afraid for my siblings because they are alone and I had no idea where they were. Now after I reported him, they are staying in protective custody at a welfare house in Riyadh," she added.

The Ministry of Social Affairs Director General of Family Protection, Mohammad Al-Harbi, said any violent case should be reported to the Human Rights Commission.

Sources said the children's father had been arrested before and was sent to prison two years ago on charges of abusing his children.

The latest case involving the man has been referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution for further action.
