The Saudi Red Crescent Society (SARCS) in Madinah facilitated a videoconferencing session between Saudi detainees in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and their families in the Kingdom on Wednesday and Friday, said Naif Al-Ahmadi, Saudi Red Crescent Madinah spokesman, in a statement on Friday.

Saudi Red Crescent authorities arranged the video conference calls with Madinah families through the help of the International Red Crescent Movement, according to official sources.

“SARCS, under the leadership of Prince Faisal bin Abdullah, organized this session because the society puts humanitarian services first,” he said.

Al-Ahmadi thanked SARCS workers and officials for their initiative and their efforts in enabling inmates to communicate with their families.

“Such initiatives are personally supervised by the prince,” he said.
