Government agencies in the capital are operating at full capacity providing service during the second most celebrated holiday in Saudi Arabia and the Islamic world.

Ibrahim bin Mubarak Al-Dajeen, head of services at Riyadh Municipality said preparations are complete at all slaughterhouses, markets and venues selling sacrificial animals and are ready to serve the capital’s residents.

Al-Dajeen toured a number of markets and slaughterhouses and said the Riyadh Municipality allocated more than 2,000 employees to help with receiving and preparing sacrificial animals. He said this year has seen a rise in the supply of sacrificial animals and the four holding sites are filled to capacity. He suggested prices will be more affordable for all and added the medical and health teams are closely monitoring activity at all sites.

Nasser bin Ibrahim Badr, Director General of the Markets Convenience and Safety at Riyadh Governorate said all sites are staffed with sufficient manpower to monitor operation and prevent potential violations. He said his office supplied eco-friendly meat bags and distributed brochures outlining slaughter practices to all sales venues in Riyadh.

The Environmental and Health Department provided 100 field veterinary staff to monitor the health and safety of the sacrificial animals and ensure disease free animals and environments.

The Riyadh Municipality completed sanitation preparations and have special patrols working at markets, Eid prayer locations and public parks around the clock.

The Secretariat allocated more than 8,500 sanitation monitors, drivers and cleaners. Citizens can address any sanitation concerns to the department by calling 0224-477 or faxing 5577-478.

The Riyadh Traffic Department said it is fully staffed and operational and monitoring traffic on the capital’s streets. Abdul Aziz bin Hamad, RTD Director, said traffic monitoring starts before Eid prayer with intense presence around prayer sites and along roads, main squares and key intersections.

More than 1,000 traffic patrolmen are assigned to regulate the flow of traffic and respond to traffic accidents or motor vehicle-related issues that may arise over the next few days.
