The regional governors’ meeting held in Jeddah on Wednesday focused on achieving balanced and comprehensive growth across the Kingdom and improving welfare among citizens and residents, said Makkah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah.

“This was an extension of the previous annual governors’ meetings and it discussed all issues concerning the regions,” Prince Mishaal said.

He commended the government for allocating billions of riyals for regional development.

“The Kingdom’s leadership gives top priority to the welfare of citizens and development of all regions,” Prince Mishaal said. He disclosed plans to implement a number of mega projects in the Makkah region, which includes Haram expansion.

Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif presided over the governors’ meeting.

“Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman have instructed us to facilitate citizens’ affairs wherever they may be,” he told the governors.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening security and achieving comprehensive development, the minister said. “We have discussed matters related to improving the services of the Interior Ministry and governorates and meeting citizens’ requirements,” Prince Mohammed said, adding that its recommendations would be presented to the king.

Prince Mohammed said the meeting also discussed the rules and regulations to promote equality and justice and improve the performance of government organizations.

The meeting also discussed 172 development projects under implementation.
