A bilateral committee from the Ministries of Commerce and Industry and Municipal Affairs confirmed the imposition of stricter controls on the sale of school stationery during the period that precedes the start of the new school year, to punish manipulators.

The committee defined a number of measures to intensify monitoring of all relevant commercial centers and markets. These measures aim to control prices and question violators.

A number of field teams in various parts of the Kingdom will intensify its monitoring role at all centers and markets that specialize in selling stationery.

A statement from the Ministry of Commerce pointed to the "great success" achieved by field teams last year, when a number of manipulators were subjected to regulatory procedures.

The committee devised a number of measures to intensify control over stationery stores and markets. These included making an inventory of price variations between a large volume of stationery and school supplies, in addition to dealing with all public complaints about price tampering.

It included the immediate detention of all violators before the start of the new school year, and imposing stricter controls on markets and centers specializing in selling stationery before the beginning of the new school year. Recommendations defined a new mechanism to watch prices and fight commercial cheating.

The two ministries notified their branches in various parts of the Kingdom to implement the rules and regulations and take the necessary measures to control prices.

They called on the committee to intensify their field presence before the launch of the new school year.
