JEDDAH: Graduates of colleges and technical institutes in Makkah signed contracts for 300 jobs during the Career Day organized by the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
“The aim of the Career Day event was to serve the community in Makkah. In doing so, we help parents so that their children who have graduated can be employed,” said Dr. Abdullah Shakir Al-Ghalib, MCCI secretary-general.
He added that “we’d also be helping reduce unemployment in the Makkah region in particular, and the Kingdom in general, which is in accordance with the Vision 2030 plan of the government.”
He noted that the government plan is visionary but “we need to do our share since we have been empowered as a result.”
“At MCCI, we’ll continue working to join the collective move to realize the dreams and ambitions set forth in the Vision 2030 plan. But in doing so, we need the help of our partners,” he said. He thanked the 85 local companies which participated in the event and offered job opportunities to those who had just graduated from their colleges and technical institutes. “We at the MCCI are hoping that another career day could take place again so that we can help more students get jobs. But for this to materialize, we need the help of local firms,” he said.
The students who attended the career day activities signed up for jobs in the fields of electricity and information technology, among others.
Al-Ghalib said the career day was made possible through the partnership of MCCI with various institutions such as the Human Resources Development Fund, vocational training institutes, and others.
