JEDDAH: Hundreds of designers from all across the Gulf participated in Sixth Gulf Exhibition under the patronage of Princess Ahood bint Nasser bin Abdulaziz on Saturday at the Hilton in Jeddah.
The exhibition will continue until June 14 under the banner “Union of the Gulf designers” where a number of designers, companies and institutions will participate in the forum to promote the Saudi design market.
The exhibition comes at an important time, given the approach of Eid Al-Fitr. Eid is a special time of festivity that comes after Ramadan in which everyone wishes to look their best and to stand out among others. By offering new ideas and products such as makeup, jewelry and perfume, this exhibition comes at precisely the right time for Saudi and Gulf women.
The exhibition was organized by the Pink Ribbon organization to give a boost to Saudi designers and to create cooperation between Saudi designers with the aim of bringing the expertise of the Gulf to the Saudi market.
Abeer Arif, president of the organizing committee of the exhibition, said that the Union of Gulf Designers and the exhibition will contribute to the economic growth of the GCC countries in general and Saudi Arabia in particular. She further said that it will also help in achieving the 'Vision 2030' and support the community.
Indeed, many Gulf designers are exporting their products to countries all over the world as Gulf women are bursting onto the fashion scene and contributing to the development of the economy of the country. She also said that such exhibitions help small entrepreneurs to understand the market, educating them and intensifying specialized production in the field of economic feasibility, administrative measures for their growth and sufficient local production.
Basmam Al-Sultan, a designer from Kuwait, expressed her enthusiasm about participating in the exhibition and said that it is an excellent occasion to understand the needs of the Saudi women, and is also an opportunity to introduce her products into the Saudi market. She said that it gives a platform to all Gulf designers to gather under one roof, not only to understand customers needs but also to learn from senior designers.
A number of women’s products, including homemade products and designs in jewelry, clothes, beauty products, home decorations and much more are available to buy at this year's exhibition.
