JEDDAH: A group of hackers succeeded in hacking the Twitter account of Mujtahed, the user name of an unknown person, who launched rumors and fake stories about the Saudi government.

The group, which calls itself “Al-Auja Hackers,” deleted thousands of Mujtahed’s tweets on Monday. They also promised to reveal secret information and the personal identity of the unknown person who used that account.

The hackers were able to enter the mailbox of Mujtahed, and found shameful information and fake stories as well as other messages.

They said in a tweet on the hacked account that they will publish 40GB of documents from this account and the names of people who cooperated with him.

The followers of Mujtahed’s Twitter account have decreased from two million to 300,000 following the hacking announcement.

The hackers also changed the name of Mujtahed’s account to “Ayatollah Mujtahed.”
