The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) has sacked a member of the organization for allegedly corrupt and disloyal activities.

In a statement, the Haia said Chairman Sheikh Abdullateef Al-Asheikh issued the order to dismiss Abdul Mohsen Al-Qafari on Monday. Al-Qafari had earlier been relieved of his post as a spokesman for the organization after the discovery of his alleged anti-Haia activities, which included publicly undermining Al-Asheikh.

“The termination order was issued because of administrative corruption including concealing four Haia vehicles and bugging the chief’s conversations,” a source said.

Al-Qafari was also accused of spreading false and defamatory statements about other Haia members.

He had allegedly resorted to corrupt and subversive activities after Al-Asheikh's appointment as the Haia chief, who had introduced measures to restructure the organization, train staff, uplift its image, and end the excesses of some members.

It was also claimed that some outside elements were encouraging some Haia members to commit violations that would undermine the organization's mission.
