MADINAH: Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman said the heath sector in Madinah has been given the utmost support by the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman through provision of the best health services living up to the aspirations of citizens and residents.

Prince Faisal’s remarks came following his inspection visits to hospitals in Uhud, Miqat and Safia Medical Center Wednesday night. He was accompanied by Minister of Health Khalid Al-Falih and a number of ministry officials.

He stressed that expansion in health projects would continue, adding that the Madinah region has received two health projects which were launched by the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques during his recent visit to Madinah, the teaching hospital of Taibah University and Madinah Specialist Hospital. The two projects will be implemented to the highest standards, he said.

For his part, Minster of Health Khalid Al-Falih said there were urgent solutions under implementation to bring health services to their highest levels to cope with the aspirations of citizens.

He said the ministry will embark on reform plans through long- and medium-term strategies with priorities given to the Madinah region in these projects.

The minister said the ministry's staff will work as one team in cooperation with the Madinah governorate to realize aspirations of the country's wise leaderships in providing the best health services for citizens and visitors to Madinah.

Earlier, Prince Faisal visited Uhud Hospital where he was briefed on the services provided by the emergency department which receives 1,400 patients daily, thus making it one of the busiest emergency units in the Kingdom. He also inspected the one-day surgery department which annually conducts nearly 5,000 surgical procedures.

Later, the governor made an inspection tour of Miqat General Hospital where he was briefed on the emergency and in-patient sections. The new 300-bed Miqat Hospital is in its last stages of construction and is expected to be completed next year.
