There are 700 cases of disputes between workers and their employees currently being dealt with by the labor office in Asir, Supervisor General of Human Rights Commission Hadi Al-Yami said in a statement recently.

While the Labor Disputes Committee is dealing with these cases, liaison officers have been appointed in the HRC and the labor office to process the cases as early as possible, Al-Yami said, stressing the importance of holding workshops on labor rights and dispute settlements.

''There is remarkable cooperation between the HRC and the labor office concerning matters such as the rights of domestic workers and the mechanisms in place for the settlement of their cases,'' Al-Yami said. He also reiterated the support of the HRC to the Nitaqat program as a successful method to end the huge unemployment rate in the country.

Al-Yami said that the modernization of labor regulations, the restructuring of labor market and recognition of the citizens' right to employment would certainly go a long way to end unemployment in the Kingdom.

He added that the implementation of the domestic workers' law for monitoring their cases is one of the most significant decisions that would help end their problems and ensure their rights. In his view, the labor dispute settlement committee at the labor office maintained the required coordination between the provincial labor office and the HRC in all cases of labor disputes.
