JEDDAH: The secretary-general of the  International Islamic Relief Organization of Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) has called for changing the traditional pattern of humanitarian assistance to the poor and needy people.

Dr. Adnan Bin Khalil Pasha said more emphasis should be given on livelihood training and opportunities so that aid recipients would not be forever dependent on relief.
The IIRO has adopted many programs of training including supporting and administering four vocational centers for trainees in Sri Lanka and Nigeria.
Organized in the 70s by the Muslim World League (MWL) of which it is an affiliate, the organization is a member of the International Islamic Council for Da'wah and Relief (IICDR), and is also a partner with various groups including the Organization of the Islamic Conference and international groups such as UNESCO.
