JEDDAH:The International Islamic Relief Organization in Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) plans to distribute 32,130 blankets worth SR 2.5 million to the needy across the country as part of its winter clothing program launched Tuesday, according to Ihsan bin Saleh Taib, secretary-general of the organization.
"This campaign is a response to the needs of the poor in areas identified after a field study conducted by IIROSA's offices across the country," Taib said in a statement.
He thanked Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Salman for supporting the organization's efforts.
Taib said this was the fourth consecutive winter that IIROSA has distributed high quality blankets to the poor. The campaign has been welcomed by citizens and officials across the country.
The areas that stand to benefit are Qunfudah with 5,000 blankets, Riyadh (3,000), Najran (2,700), Unaizah (2,500), Tabuk (2,500), Asir (2,000), Madinah and the northern border (1,300 each), Taif (1,200), Yanbu (1,500), Hail (1,400), Jawf (1,050), Jazan (1,000) and Kherqa villages located in the region of Laith (480). The poor and needy in Jeddah will get 2,000 blankets.
