RIYADH: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has advised the imams of all mosques in the Kingdom to allocate time and pray for Saudi soldiers guarding the country’s borders. The imams have been urged to remember the soldiers especially during Dua Al-Qunoot in Ramadan.

Sources were quoted by local media as saying that the ministry stressed on branch directors to assign observers to follow up on imams to make sure they allocate part of the prayers to soldiers who are defending the nation.

The ministry said that imams should abide by rules and regulations pertaining to Taraweeh prayers, iftar and other things during the holy month. Instructions include the prevention of activities other than what is officially allowed inside mosques during Ramadan.

The ministry has stipulated that when choosing people to deputize for imams, they should know the Qur’an by heart and priority should be given to students and teachers of the Qur’an.

The ministry started to mobilize a number of scholars and university professors to expose the dangers of extremism and intellectual fragmentation by holding seminars and lectures for the employees of 10 government bodies.

The program includes the importance of unified education and implementation of programs in various provinces and governorates in the Kingdom to deal with extremism and intellectual deviations.

The Council of Senior Scholars will participate in seminars and scientific workshops that focus on tactics applied by extremists to misguide and lure children.
