LONDON: Forecasts presented by the Saudi Information Center for Research on Tourism show that the number of tourists to the Kingdom is expected to increase by 43 percent by 2020.
According to the center, the number of international flights to the Kingdom is expected to increase from 18 million in 2015 to 25.8 million by 2020.
The head of travel consulting, hospitality and entertainment for the Middle East of a prominent tourism company, Grant Salter, said that the Kingdom is showing strong tourism figures with hotel occupancy at a relatively high standard, adding that there are more than 49,000 new hotel rooms being established around the Kingdom to cope with the expected tourism influx.
Ismael Alkamal, CEO of a leading development company in the Kingdom, said that his firm is modernizing the Makkah Hilton and adding two restaurants and three elevators of 30 stories, even during the times that hotel has a full 100 percent occupancy rate.
