Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom Hamid Ali Rao called on Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, minister of education, at his office in Riyadh on Wednesday and exchanged cordial talks which included a discussion on issues of mutual interest and cooperation regarding Indian schools in the Kingdom.

During the meeting, the ambassador, who is also the patron of Indian schools in the Kingdom, apprised the education minister of the situation at the Indian community schools.

Prince Khaled appreciated India’s achievements in higher education, which he said has expanded at a fast pace with the universities evolving in divergent streams and scientific research reaching new highs.

“Overall it was a very positive meeting on joint cooperation in education between the Kingdom and India,” Rao said.

Indians form the largest bloc of expatriates in the Kingdom at 2.5 million. There are ten Indian community schools across the Kingdom which are licensed under the Ministry of Education with a representative from the ministry nominated in the school management committee.

The school license and teachers’ permits are renewed on an annual basis.
