A cross-section of Indian community from both north and south Indian states came together in Riyadh to felicitate prominent educationist and philanthropist Nadeem Tarin who was recently conferred an honorary doctorate for his outstanding achievements in the field of education.

Tarin, who is chairman of the Riyadh-based Delhi Public School (DPS) and Dunes International School-Dammam, holds immense respect among NRI’s living in the Kingdom for his valuable contributions to the society.

Architects of the program Shamim Khan, Pervez Rahman, Dilnawaz Romi, Shahid Siddiqui, Abdulrahman Saleem, Sayeed Uddin and Khursheed S. Khan stood to encourage a social cause of ‘uplifting the society with rightful education’ in honoring Tarin.

Speaking on the occasion, Tarin stressed on the importance of education for progressive growth within the community.

Tarin was presented a decorative shawl and ‘Bisht’ by Mir Muzaffar Ali, CEO of Jahan Jewellers.

Shahid Siddiqui another prominent member of the organizing committee, presented a memento to Tarin.

A Ghazal-Nite (poetry evening) was also organized for the occasion.

Mohammed Vakil, winner of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’, a musical reality show on Indian television also enthralled audience with a continuous string of melodious ghazals.

Amid thunderous applause and cheering from the assembled audience that included some of the prominent Indian personalities, the Riyadh audience witnessed an evening to remember.

Adding flavor to the evening, the ‘winter carnival’ that was jointly organized alongside saw a collaborative effort of Shahida Hassan, Irum Khan and Lubna Sayed and was supervised by Tabassum Farooqui.

The winter carnival gathered together all the states of India to promote the national traditions in food and culture. Women and children enjoyed the food, henna, face painting and fun games in the ladies hall.

Annie Shamsi, a social activist who visited the event, said “every corner was well represented with themes from different parts of India.”
