The International Indian School Jeddah (Girls’ Section) recently held an investiture ceremony for the academic year 2014-15 that saw the solemn event of young leaders being chosen from the IX – XII block and having responsibilities bestowed upon them.

The event commenced with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by a note of welcome to the gathering from the Literary Secretary, Khadeeja Haris.

Nazneen Rehman, wife of deputy consul general and chief guest, graced the occasion with her presence. The principal, Syed Masood Ahmed, vice principal (girls section) Farhadunnisa, head mistress of the IX-XII block, Reeta Sharma and the heads of various other blocks were also present.

While addressing the Cabinet members and students, Rahman said: “I am very impressed with your performances and I heartily congratulate you for all the achievements.” She also inspired the audience to set high goals and aspirations quoting former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam, “Having a small aim is a crime.” She exhorted the students to excel in the areas they choose.

The principal, Syed Masood Ahmed, said that it was not only a dream come true for the selected cabinet members but also for the school as they have entrusted the young leaders with the responsibility to take the school to greater heights of excellence in curricular and co-curricular activities. He also stressed on the broader vision of the teachers to nurture leadership qualities at a young age in school which would help the students to become great leaders of the future.

Reeta Sharma led the oath taking ceremony of the cabinets in which they promised to serve the school with utmost sincerity and loyalty and to uphold the good name of the school.

The oath taking ceremony of the prefectural board was led by the head girl, Sumaiya Fatima, who in her speech credited her success to her parents and teachers and motivated the students to arm themselves with knowledge and skills to be the mentors of a better world.

An inspirational song “Heal the world” was sung in a melodious voice by the school choir which was followed by a thought provoking presentation on women’s leadership.

There was also a fascinating drill presentation by the students.

The vote of thanks was proposed by the sports captain, Shurooq Mohamed followed by the national anthem.
