The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association (AMUAA) in Riyadh will celebrate Sir Syed Day on Nov. 28. The AMUAA has invited Lt. Gen. Zameeruddin Shah, vice chancellor of their alma mater, as their chief guest.

The Riyadh chapter of the AMUAA, which changed its name from an old boys association to an alumni association to include female graduates, also organized a Sir Syed memorial inter-school essay writing competition on Oct. 26 at the International Indian Public School.

Mohammad Ahmad Badshah, AMUAA’s president, said grade 10, 11 and 12 boys and girls from Indian schools in Riyadh participated in the competition. The winners would be announced on Nov. 28, he said.

He said the AMUAA organized the competition to create awareness among the youth of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s achievements and to encourage them to pursue their studies at the institution.
