Yahya Al-Mazini of Abha Traffic Police who suffered multiple fractures and was left physically incapacitated in the line of duty during Haj, is seeking government intervention for specialist treatment and rehabilitation either in the Kingdom or abroad, a relative told Arab News.

“The officer, who is my cousin, was injured in a traffic accident on Qunfuda road four days ago.

Yahya was admitted to the Noor Hospital in Makkah because his back and knee were fractured and he is paralyzed from the waist down. He needs urgent surgical intervention,” Ali Al-Mazini said, adding that his cousin was assigned Haj-related duties after all other security forces had left Makkah.

He requested the interior minister to take quick action to airlift the victim to a specialist hospital, as the current medical services were experiencing some delay. “He should be taken to the Security Forces Hospital where he should get the preferential treatment for those who are injured in the line of duty,” Al-Mazini said, adding that his cousin could not afford to seek advanced treatment on his own.
