JEDDAH: A girl died and her mother slipped into coma after reportedly inhaling toxic fumes of an insecticide in their house in Al-Dayer, east of Jazan, on Monday evening. Two of her sisters were also affected by the fumes and are being treated in a hospital.
The three girls and their mother were cleaning the kitchen and sprayed an insecticide without realizing how dangerous the fumes could be, sources were quoted as saying by local media on Tuesday.
“When the father of the girls came home, he was shocked to see them and wife unconscious. He immediately took them to the Bani Malik General Hospital.”
The sources said that the one of the sisters was declared dead on arrival at the hospital and her mother was transferred to the King Central Hospital as she went into coma. “The other two sisters are under close observation in the Bani Malik General Hospital.”
The hospital reported the incident to the Al-Dayer police, who opened an investigation into the incident.
