The supervisory teams of the Ministry of Commerce have seized more than 2,000 counterfeit smartphone devices branded "iPhone" and "Samsung Galaxy" in a warehouse in the Al-Batha neighborhood of Riyadh. These devices were set to be sold in the local market, with the intention of fooling customers through their seemingly 'proper' packaging in the fake boxes of high-end brand names.

The devices were confiscated by officials, and the two stores involved were closed. Those responsible for the fraudulent goods were arrested for further investigations.

During the search of the site, and in cooperation with a joint market security campaign, officials of the Ministry of Commerce seized more than 7,000 mobile chargers and counterfeit phones claiming to be the products of well-known brands.

The devices were seized before they could be discharged and sold in the market due to the risk they posed to the safety and purchasing rights of consumers.

This week, the ministry announced the implementation of control campaigns that later resulted in the arrest of workers found involved in storing large quantities of electrical materials and counterfeit goods in warehouses and homes in central Riyadh. The ministry arrested those involved and has taken legal action against

them.

In a press statement, the ministry stressed that it will not tolerate any illegal action in the marketplace and will apply severe penalties against frauds who put the rights and safety of consumers at risk.
