RIYADH: Indian politician and current Finance Minister in the eastern Indian state of Bihar Abdul Bari Siddiqui assured the expatriates from the state that his government is working on an international airport in Bihta, a township on the outskirt of the state capital, to help facilitate a direct flight from Riyadh to Patna.
Demand for an international airport has been repeatedly made by about half a million expatriates from Bihar working in the Kingdom, who face problems while returning home on vacations.
Speaking here at a glittering function organized by the Council for Saudi-India Relations (CSIR) on Thursday night, Siddiqui also promised to help facilitate an independent department for the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) welfare in Patna to address concerns.
He said that the direct flight from Patna to Riyadh will also add value by Bihar’s significant participation in agro exports to the Kingdom especially fruits like mangoes and litchi.
Glad to receive an overwhelming response from the people of prominence from Bihar led by CSIR chief patron Ghazanfar Ali Khan, the minister said he will speak to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to send an official delegation to the Kingdom for export promotion from Bihar to the Kingdom and attract possible investment in the state by NRIs.
“I am glad to be with all of you, next time i will visit the Kingdom with an official delegation arranged through the Indian embassy to facilitate business interactions,” the minister said.
“I will also request Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to make a visit, if possible, to the Kingdom as it will encourage potential investors to come to Bihar,” he added.
Assuring of completely safe investment in the state, the Bihar finance minister also promised of the tax discount to NRIs investors.

Siddiqui took note of concerns raised by the NRIs from Bihar with the promise to find an amicable solutions to all legitimate concerns.
The NRIs also urged the minister for making it mandatory to recruit Muslims and Dalits in all the police stations to put communal incidents and caste-based violence under check.
The program formally began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Zaina Hameed, while Fares Manzar Khan interpreted it in English for the audience that included representatives from Indian community organizations like India Islamic Culture Center, BISWAS, AHSAS, Bihar Anjuman, Tanzeem Hum Hindustani, Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association and All India Research Society (AIRS).
The program was jointly moderated by Saquib Manzar Khan and Wakeel Ahmad while Asad Aman proposed the vote of thanks.
