Border Guard patrol units were able abort an attempt to smuggle weapons into the Kingdom. Officers collected 176 pistols from the occupants of a 2014 Toyota Jeep after finding it behaving suspiciously.

The car was stopped and officers inspected it for any smuggled materials. The surprise was when the pistols were found hidden in the gas trunk.

Border Patrol arrested the Saudi driver and confiscated the weapons, Border Guard’s Deputy Spokesman Major Hassan bin Badr Al-Gosaibi confirmed.

Al-Gosaibi added that the Border Guards Commander in Jazan region, Major General Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Al-Subhi, offered his thanks to the unit that caught the smuggler and appreciated their sense of security.

Al-Subhi called upon all Saudi citizens to intensify their efforts to protect the safety of the homeland and thwart any attempts by smugglers to threaten the nation’s security.
