The Jazan Spring Festival kicked off last weekend, which means several events under this umbrella are now ongoing in the southern Saudi city.

Saudi Aramco started a 15-day festival last Friday on safety awareness and culture. This festival shows the commitment of Saudi Aramco to the Kingdom, by offering cultural and educational programs to citizens and visitors of the province, said Samir Nasreddin, director of Saudi Aramco Affairs in the Western Region.

Experts and professionals will present workshops on self-development programs, along with fun and entertaining presentations on different topics including self-management, traffic safety, and leadership.

A special traffic safety program designed for children will highlight traffic safety measures and will target the abuse of traffic rules. The program raises awareness on road safety.

The importance of an early detection of diabetes, measuring blood pressure and the dangers of obesity will be discussed with visitors in the health education programs.

On Sunday the third annual Jazan Carnival starts, also as part of the spring festival. The weeklong carnival is the biggest of its kind in the Kingdom.

Mamdouh Salem, the carnival’s producer and director, said the carnival is a big support to strengthen the identity of the region.

It will show the very best of Saudi theater, art and talent. More than 400 students from around the Kingdom will perform and show their skills. Saudi professional artists and theater talents are participating and 70 cartoon characters will be there to entertain children.

“The activities include a panoramic show on the beauty and culture of the city, and information on tourist venues and cultural programs,” said Salem.

This year’s festival will feature the diversity of personalities presented from all sectors of art and entertainment, from painters to musicians.

The main aim of this carnival is to provide entertainment to the region and increase the concept of the local entertainment industry. It also aims to attract international visitors to build cultural bridges between the artists of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and other countries.
