Police are currently investigating a case of domestic violence against a 14-year-old Saudi child in Jazan, involving a man related to the area’s security forces.

The child was allegedly hit brutally by his father, and was transferred to Jazan’s General Hospital for treatment.

Sources close to the case confirmed that the police received a report last Thursday from the hospital, stating that the child was severely beaten across the body and had various scratches in the face, as well as in the chest. Physicians expected the recovery period to be no more than seven days, since the child does not have any fractured bones.

The sources added that the words of the battered child were taken by the committee of security investigation, confirming suspicions that his father was the one who beat him up.

Human rights organizations are also following-up with the family and the child’s health to keep track of his recovery and gather all the necessary proof and paper work for the judicial authorities.
