The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and the Harifa Charitable Organization for Handicrafts signed an agreement Wednesday to create jobs for hundreds of Saudi women in 2015.

The agreement was signed by Ziyad bin Bassam Al-Bassam, vice chairman of the JCCI, and Mustafa bin Mohammed Al-Qurashi, chairman of the JCCI's employment department, who signed the agreement on behalf of the charity.

The JCCI would help Saudi women set up small businesses and market their products, said Al-Bassam. The organization would also run special training courses for women.

He said the JCCI is working to create 5,000 jobs for people annually in the medium and small enterprises sector. The initiative would also include young men.

Al-Qurashi said the agreement is an attempt to ensure cooperation between companies, public bodies, charities and government agencies to encourage members of community groups to learn trades and work professionally.
