JEDDAH: Jeddah has introduced an electronic application for the provision of services to citizens and expatriates as part of the province’s efforts to keep up to date with technological developments.

The province began the project by launching the province’s website www.jed.gov.sa in 2011, which provides services quickly.

The project allows users to make different inquiries via SMS, self-service KIOSKs, smartphone applications, or the Jeddah online website and its smartphone version.

Through such smartphone and online application services, the province aims to reduce the time taken for different procedures and improve services delivered to citizens and expatriates.

The initiative is done through collaboration among government agencies, including the Jeddah Municipality, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the Saudi Electricity Company, the National Water Company, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Justice.

Through its portal, the province provides services that allow citizens and residents to efficiently submit requests and carry out different processes, such as providing applications for social insurance, requests for Saudi national males to marry non-Saudi women with or without a Saudi birth certificate from the Kingdom, requests for a Saudi women to marry a non-Saudi male, documentation and notarization of marriage contracts between a Saudi man and a non-Saudi woman, requests to repatriate the remains of a deceased foreign national, requests for a non-Saudi to own real estate, provided the property is inside Jeddah, and requests to hold press conferences.

The participating agencies provide more than 132 services in Jeddah as part of the effort to streamline provision of quality and efficient services.
