Social organizations have estimated that the number of family disputes recorded in Jeddah has reached 41,000 cases per year. Sources at Al-Mawada Charitable Society for Social Reform in Jeddah said that in over 40,000 cases help is sought from the organization. The organization said that it helps to resolve up to 80 percent of the cases.

These figures came to light through a poll conducted by the ‘DNA’ research center, which cooperates with Al-Mawada in such issues. The poll revealed that the offering of programs and training workshops designed to empower families at such charitable societies has helped to decrease divorce rates by 9 percent in the area. Approximately 97 percent of families which have presented cases have in some way benefited from these social programs, according to data provided by the center.

Prince Faisal bin Muqrin, the honorary president of Al-Mawada, said during a meeting of Al-Mawada’s Honorary Society in Jeddah that empowering and educating families about conflict resolution is of strategic value, noting that “the family is the main component through which any society can hope to achieve stability.”

Prince Faisal highlighted the importance of the organization’s achievements throughout its 13-year history, saying that “more than 192,000 families received services from the organization in total involving providing care, reform and advice.” He added that the organization’s impact can be seen in different areas around the Kingdom, including the Makkah region, and not just in Jeddah.

Prince Faisal also launched the new motto of the organization at this meeting, which is “Empower Family to Strengthen Community.” The meeting was held to support the values of the organization.
