JEDDAH: The city and its surrounding areas sweltered on Monday, with the maximum temperature rising to 44 degree Celsius and relative humidity being recorded at 85 percent. The weather department has forecast a similar situation in Jeddah on Tuesday.

Raaid Hassan from the Presidency of Metrology (PME) said the weather was hazy in the city because active northeasterly winds raised dust, leading to increased heat and humidity, as well as hazy condition.

Elsewhere in the Kingdom, the weather was partly cloudy, he said. “The central and southern parts of the Kingdom, including Makkah and Madinah, has partly cloudy to cloudy weather with expectation of rain.”

Thunderstorm with active wind and low visibility in regions of Asir, Baha, Jazan, Najran and Taif are expected, the PME said.

Rain is likely in Tabuk, Hail, Al-Jouf and south-eastern parts of the region of Riyadh, while there will be poor visibility due to dust in Baha and Makkah.
