The “Jobs on Air" program is set to kick off at 9 p.m. on Tuesday on the Saudi-owned Al Danah TV network to help jobless young Saudi men and women find employment.

“In the first episode, 300 jobless young Saudis will participate in the recording of the show. Immediately after that, the show will go on air,” said Mohsin Shaikh Al-Hassan, program host. He added that the program is being launched in coordination with the Ministry of Labor, as well as the human resources departments of local companies which will offer to train them.

“The companies will train jobless young Saudis and employ them after they have acquired enough skills for the jobs they'll apply for,” Al-Hassan said. He explained that under the setup, both the employer and employees are taken care of because a contract will be signed by the latter to ensure that all needs are met. He added that the employer is also protected because the employee cannot simply resign from the company due to the conditions of his contract, meaning he must work for the company for two years. “If he resigns, he'll pay the employer for every riyal spent to train and employ him. Not only that, he will also be blacklisted in the industry,” he said.

Al-Hassan said that many local companies had agreed to participate in the program because they have much to gain, aside from helping provide job opportunities. He noted that participating companies have many incentives from the Ministry of Labor such as in the hiring of workers from other countries.

He added that employers of the month will be selected based on recommendations, in addition to the "awarding of companies which hire the most number of Saudi employees, for which we will provide certificates of recognition.”
