The Court of Appeals has upheld a ruling passed by the Administrative Court in the Eastern Province ordering Saudi scammer Juma Al-Juma to reimburse investors the amount of funds he owed them with 27 percent interest, local media said.

Under the court’s ruling, the beneficiaries or their representatives can go to respective courts for the implementation of the verdict. The ruling brought to an end a 13-year fight of the investors to get back their money, a local daily said.

Juma, who is reportedly required to pay back more than SR1.3 billion to investors, attempted to obtain Bahraini documents to escape from the country and avoid the trial. He planned to travel to Sudan where some of his relatives look after his investments, according to the daily.

Juma’s case is related to bogus investments and dates back to 2001 when he launched an investment fund without obtaining the required legal licenses. The fund attracted thousands of investors and amassed an estimated SR4 billion.

Later, the investors filed a series of complaints to the authorities against him claiming back their money for achieving nothing from such investments.

Juma was sent to jail and his bank accounts were frozen.
