RIYADH: The King Abdulaziz City For Science and Technology, (KACST) has signed a tripartite agreement with a Turkish defense company and a Saudi company to develop security and defense cooperation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by KACST President Prince Turki bin Saud, ​Aselsan Vice-President Oguz Sener and Hamad bin Sulaiman Al-Yusufi, CEO of technical for defense and security in Saudi Arabia.

Aselsan is an institution that turns knowledge into power and trust. The artillery, naval and air force were founded in the 1970s with donations from the Turkish people in order to cover Turkey’s military defense needs through national means. ASELSAN became operational in 1970 under the Land Forces Foundation (TAFF). As underlined by the founders of of Aselsan during the foundation of the company, its basic strategy is to develop unique products and systems by making use of critical technologies.

Following the singing ceremony, Prince Turki bin Saud described the partnership as an important strategic step that will have a positive effect on the technical defense capabilities and innovation in the Kingdom.

Sener said that the areas identified in the memorandum of understanding will contribute to cooperation in the fields of defense and security in the Kingdom.

The Kingdom and Turkey enjoy strong relations, he said, adding that such relations aimed at strengthening the relationship and push it to the top and new levels of cooperation.
