The Riyadh-based King Abdullah International Center for Arabic Language (KAICAL) has invited foreign experts of the language to participate in its international research on the status of Arabic language in non-Arabic speaking countries.

According to the KAICAL online source, financial support in the range of SR40,000 to SR100,000 will be given to the participants for their work, depending on the geographical areas that the research will cover. The project is set to be completed within eight months of signing of the contract for each participant.

To complete the project, the center will issue a series of research projects under the theme “Arabic language in non-Arabic speaking countries.” It will invite researchers to study the development of the Arabic language in the country in which he or she resides, and and to master both local languages and dialects, as well as the Arabic language itself.

The researcher will deal with Arabic language in his country of residence; its history and reality, and its prospects in the future. The researcher will also create an inventory of the most prominent centers and stakeholders that the Arabic language serves in his or her area.

The project aims to identify the real status of the Arabic language in various countries in order to get a global picture of its status.
